Find The Good Founder, Alum is 230th Commencement Speaker

Jack Tarca ’18 started his business–now a BetterHelp official partner–while a student at UConn in 2020

Jack Tarca, founder of Find The Good Brand, will be the keynote speaker for Cheshire Academy’s 230th commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 1. Tarca is a 2018 graduate of Cheshire Academy. An official BetterHelp partner, Find The Good has helped thousands to promote healthy habits and positive well-being, and donates 10% of profits to Mental Health America.

Tarca, a Hebron, CT, native who now lives in Boston, started his business while a student at UConn. The speech and ceremony will take place during the Academy’s Reunion Weekend, with a number of alumni expected to be on campus for Tarca’s remarks, as well as speeches from the class valedictorian and salutatorian. Eighty-seven seniors from the Class of 2024 will receive their diplomas at the 9 a.m. ceremony on Slaughter Field.

Tarca started Find The Good as an Instagram Reel series called “No Bad Days,” a response to the negativity he saw around him during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Focused on getting outside and exploring with friends, “Find The Good” offered him a creative outlet in which he could develop his freelance photography and videography skills. A business management major at UConn, Tarca became the first entrepreneur-in-residence at its Werth Institute, where he continued to develop Find The Good.

“I hoped to inspire others to see that even though the world had turned upside down, there was still a lot of good out there,” he said. “As engagement increased, I realized a community was forming around the idea of finding positivity. When I heard how our mantra of ‘Finding The Good’ was impacting people’s lives positively, I saw a reason to commit to building the business.”

As Find The Good grew, Tarca looked for ways to partner with brands and services that align with the company mission, including BetterHelp Online Therapy, a professional resource for mental health, and Cruise America RV, which encourages outdoor adventures and community engagement.

Tarca honed his creative spirit at Cheshire Academy, where he enjoyed classes in art, photography and English, in addition to playing for both the hockey and golf teams. “CA was my first taste of the real world,” he said. “It taught me independence, community engagement, resilience, and accountability. Classroom education was important, but the lessons I learned from faculty, relationships, and overcoming challenges prepared me for what came next. I learned that setbacks are inevitable, but it’s how you handle them that matters.”

Tarca is excited to share such life lessons with the Class of 2024 and their families and friends. “My success came from consistency and perseverance; qualities I believe any student can obtain. I want every student and anyone listening to know that they have the ability to create impact.”
