CT Media Giant Taps Cheshire Academy Experts for Education Insights

Hearst Media “Education Outlook” Section Showcases Cheshire Academy Experts

Hearst Connecticut Media turned to Cheshire Academy for expert insights for its quarterly education outlook section that ran in 10 state publications.

The section, focused on school libraries, included a cover story, “School Libraries: Offering Resources, Source Knowledge, Respite & Much to Read,” featuring comments from Director of Library Services Kate Daly ’05. In the current world, Daly said, a sense of belonging – one of CA’s core values – is a primary goal of the school library.

“By curating a space surrounded by good books they are encouraged to reach, cozy couches, board games, puzzles, and adults who care about them as people,” she said, “we are encouraging them to put down their phones, socialize, and take academic risks in a safe, supportive environment.”

A second story on AI in the classroom showcased CA’s innovative “traffic light policy” and included quotes from Associate Dean of Academics Young Kwon.

“We now have the framework in place so that as Al continues to develop and new technologies come along, we can use it to educate students on how to use these tools in their learning,” Kwon said.

A third story, “Schools Help Students Navigate a Variety of Post-Grad Options,” offered insights from Madeleine Bergstrom, director of College Counseling and the Postgraduate Program. She dispelled the myth that the postgraduate experience is just a fifth year of high school.

At CA, she said, “it’s a carefully designed cohort that encourages continued academic and personal growth.”

The articles ran in Connecticut Post, Greenwich Time, Stamford Advocate, The News-Times, The Norwalk Hour, Darien News, Fairfield Citizen, New Canaan News, Westport News, Wilton Villager.
