Cats Log Thrilling Post-Season Run to Kick Off Spring Recess
On Sunday, March 8, 2026, the Cheshire Academy Varsity Boys’ Basketball Team took the court in a championship game against top-seeded Cushing Academy. They came up short on the scoreboard—Cushing won 64-55 – but the Cats played with tenacity and teamwork.
“I have watched a lot of basketball in my life, and what this team built together was something special,” said Head of School Tom Woelper P’26. “They were not the biggest. They were not the most heavily recruited. What they were was together — a group of young men who chose chemistry over individual glory, who embraced selflessness as a strength, and who demonstrated night after night that the sum of a true team is so much greater than its individual parts.”
The team played their final home game of the season in Arthur Sheriff Field House on Wednesday, March 4, before heading to the semifinal game at St. George’s in Rhode Island.
