Former CA Postgraduate Signs with Carolina Panthers
All-American Jaden Shirden broke program records with Monmouth University Hawks
Running back Jaden Shirden, who came to Cheshire Academy for a post-graduate year in 2020, recently signed with the Carolina Panthers in the National Football League (NFL).
Shirden, who went on to play for Monmouth University, totaled 3,697 career rushing yards and 26 touchdowns, including 14 of at least 50 yards with the Hawks. Averaging 7.3 yards per attempt, he ranks third in Monmouth history in rushing and went over the 100-yard mark 17 times, including six 200-yard performances, a program record.
The former Cheshire Academy PG was recently named the inaugural recipient of the Walter Camp Foundation FCS Player of the Year and was a unanimous All-American selection. He ended the 2023 season as the nation’s leading rusher for a second consecutive season and finished third in the Walter Payton Award voting both years.
“I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to join the Carolina Panthers organization,” Shirden said at his signing. “I am looking forward to getting to Charlotte and achieving success at the next level. I want to thank everyone who helped me get to this point, including my teammates, coaches and trainers, for all of their support.”
