Niche Gives Cheshire Academy an A+ in 2025 Rankings

The Academy receives high marks for diversity, activities, college prep in national survey

Cheshire Academy received an overall grade of A+ in the 2025 Niche ratings of high schools across the nation. The independent boarding and day school ranked in the top 150 of boarding schools in the United States and was in the top 5 percent in the Most Diverse Private High School in America category, ranked against 5,220 schools.

Cheshire Academy received individual A+ rankings for academics, diversity, and college prep and 90 percent of students polled said Academy teachers “give engaging lessons” and “genuinely care about their students.”

“These rankings are a reflection of Cheshire Academy’s pairing of rigorous academics and individualized support within a dynamic community of global learners,” said Head of School Julie Anderson P’19,’23. “Our filled open houses this fall show this is the kind of education parents are looking for, a place where their children can thrive and prepare to meet the challenges of college and life.”

With 375 students from 15 states and 27 countries, Cheshire Academy takes a tailored approach, providing students with a wide variety of academic and extracurricular offerings that are optimal to their individual needs, strengths, and interests.

Cheshire students are encouraged to grow capable of independently observing, questioning, explaining, interpreting, and analyzing the world. The academic process starts with what students know and want to know and develops active learners who reflect on their growth and the implications of their learning.

One-to-one college counseling program begins early on, resulting in commitments to some of the country’s most competitive colleges and universities. With a wide range of programming, CA offers the world-renowned International Baccalaureate®, the signature Roxbury Academic Support Program, and unique Art and Music Major programs. CA is home to 20+ athletics teams, with nearly 40% of recent graduates going on to play at the collegiate level. Just this November, another 12 signed commitments for baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, and lacrosse.

This well-balanced program helps Cheshire students to shine as they move onto college, according to Madeleine Bergstrom, director of college counseling.

“Our students are engaged, curious, and creative,” she said. “In the increasingly competitive world of higher education, their academic readiness and unique talents continue to find great success in the selective admission process.”
