Students, families picture themselves in blue and white at Accepted Students Day
Dozens of prospective Cheshire Cats converged on campus Tuesday, enjoying a pep rally, activities fairs, mock classes, and a chance to talk to current students and parents about their experiences.
Another group of accepted students has signed up for a second session on Friday, April 4. There are limited spots left to join the activities – if you have been accepted to Cheshire Academy for the 2025-26 academic year, please register here for Friday events, which begin at noon.
Tuesday’s events began with a welcome in J.J. White Science & Technology Center. From there, accepted students visited a community carnival to check out campus clubs and organizations, sampled the delicious waffle fries at lunch in Gideon Welles Dining Commons, learned more about the day and boarding experience, attended mock classes and finished the day with a chance to discuss academics, athletics, the Roxbury Academic Support Program, and more at the Academic Fair.
Parents chose from opt-in sessions centered on Cheshire’s approach to college counseling, academic support, health & wellness, residential life, and other aspects of the independent school experience.
A Q&A with current students allowed families to get candid answers to their questions about living on campus, juggling courses and activities, and choosing among college options.
Accepted Student Days followed a year of high interest in Chesire Academy. Hundreds of prospective students and their families flocked to campus earlier this year, prompting the need for a third open house day and a bumper crop of individual visits and interviews for 2025-26.
“We’re seeing a lot of interest in what Cheshire Academy does so well – our unique blend of challenging courses, varied athletics and activities in a close-knit, safe community, as well as our excellence in academic support and college counseling to achieve that ‘right fit’ for each student,” said Director of Admission Rebecca Brooks.
One of the oldest boarding schools in the country, Cheshire Academy is the only Connecticut independent school offering a full International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme, providing students with a high-quality, wholistic education. A companion to the IB® is Cheshire’s new Global Citizenship Diploma Distinction, an individual pathway for students to pursue their passions in high school. In addition, the Academy’s signature Roxbury Academic Support Program develops proactive, knowledgeable, and independent learners.
