Cheshire Academy Hosts One of Largest College Fairs in Connecticut
Cheshire Academy students had an exclusive chance to engage with representatives from 135 colleges and universities at the 23rd annual College Fair on Wednesday, April 15. In addition, representatives from ROTC, summer programs, and the Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHESLA) were on hand to help students and family members consider all their options for post-CA life.
“Over and over, our college representatives shared with us how prepared our students were, how impressed they were by their questions and energy, and how much ownership CA students bring to their process,” said Director of College Counseling Madeleine Bergstrom. “The energy in the gym was high, and without a doubt our students walked away having learned more about the many college options that are out there.”
For the first time ever, CA invited Hamden Hall students to attend, providing access to what has become one of the largest fairs in the state. Colleges represented included: College of William & Mary, VA; Les Roches Global Hospitality Management, Spain; Oberlin College, OH; Wesleyan University, CT; University of Toronto, Canada; Savannah College of Art & Design, GA; and Hult International Business School, with campuses in Boston, London, and Dubai.
Cheshire Academy students from all grades were invited to attend, with a special focus on the 10th and 11th graders, who are considering where to apply. Some parents and families joined their students, stopping to add names to the mailing lists and discuss academic programs, athletics, arts, and more with each college.
The spring fair is one of the many ways CA’s College Counseling professionals intentionally provides opportunities and guidance for our students from their first year through acceptances, Commencement, and beyond, Bergstrom said. The team tours many colleges each year.
“We’re building meaningful connections for our students,” she said.
