Cheshire Academy Quarterback Keegan Croucher ’27 got some airtime on the popular national podcast ESPN College GameDay, after he garnered interest at the May 12 Football Showcase.
During the segment “On Pete’s Radar,” hosts Rece Davis and Pete Thamel discussed Croucher as a top 2027 prospect who was one of several CA standouts who drew dozens of college coaches and recruiters to campus.
“Croucher popped,” said Thamel, who attended several showcases held in Connecticut and Massachusetts that day. “He’s got a good offer list that’s growing. There was clearly some interest.”
Thamel, who lives in Massachusetts, joked that he had to get up early to make the session, but it was worth it to catch up with CA Athletic Director James McCarthy.
“I was happy to pull into Cheshire,” he said. “Jimmy McCarthy, the Cheshire AD, is an old friend of mine. He was an assistant basketball coach at Northeastern for about a decade, and he’s a buddy. So not only did I drive two hours, but I had to stop and get Jimmy a coffee to start the day there.”
You can hear Thamel and Davis talk high school prospects and the recruiting process beginning at 25:22 on the podcast, which reaches an average of 2.2 million per episode.
