The Academy receives high marks for diversity, activities, college prep in national survey
Cheshire Academy received an overall grade of A+ in the 2026 Niche ratings of high schools across the nation, ranking #159 in the Best Boarding High Schools in America category. The independent boarding and day school also ranked in the top 5 percent in the Most Diverse Private High School in America category, and #574 of nearly 5,000 in Best Private High School in America.
CA received an A+ in academics and college preparation, among other rankings.
Reviews from students, parents, and alumni were one factor in the annual national rankings, with many referring to CA as a “second home” where teachers care about their students.

We strive to challenge and support our students in developing as global citizens who will flourish in college and life,” said Head of School Tom Woelper. “We believe are focus on character, critical thinking, and confidence is what makes CA a top choice for families both in the U.S. and internationally.”

With a wide range of programming, CA offers the world-renowned International Baccalaureate®, new Global Citizenship Diploma Distinction, research-based Roxbury Academic Support Program, and unique Art and Music Major programs. Cheshire Academy is home to 20+ athletics teams, with 34% of recent graduates going on to play at the collegiate level.
