Campus College Fair Welcomes 125 Representatives
Admissions professionals from universities and colleges interact with, answer questions from Cheshire Academy students
Cheshire students from all grades–with a special focus on 10th and 11th–had the opportunity to engage with 125 college representatives at the spring college fair on Wednesday, April 17. The event, which took place in the expansive Arthur Sheriff Field House gymnasium, was bustling with activity and excited students eager to learn about where they might go in the future.
Students were able to connect with representatives and start thinking about the next steps in their journey. An event like this is just one of the many ways that CA college counseling intentionally provides opportunities and guidance for our students every step of the way to college.
“Our students were engaged, excited, and asked excellent questions,” said Director of College Counseling Madeleine Bergstrom. Visiting admissions counselors shared with her how impressive they found CA students to be: “One representative stopped me after the fair to share that she was floored by our students’ ability to articulate their interests and ask thoughtful questions.”
In addition to Bergstrom, along with Associate Director of College Counseling Sarah Lasoff-Hodge and the whole college counseling team, this successful event was made possible by many volunteers. The community provided a welcoming experience for guests by setting up the fair, providing a special breakfast, facilitating check-in, and guiding students to learn about a range of schools.
CA’s Office of College Counseling is a true distinction at the Academy–and it’s not only because they offer valuable events like the twice-yearly campus college fairs. Students at Cheshire benefit from involvement in the process during all four years of high school dedicated to finding the right college fit for each student. With three full-time college counselors who are fully immersed in our students’ day-to-day experiences as coaches, advisors, and dorm parents, CA college counselors know students well and provide personalized guidance through every step of the college search and application process.
