ATHLETIC FACILITIES
230 years of tournaments, competitions, and victories in our athletic facilities.
Cheshire Academy’s campus has seen numerous changes, additions, and facility upgrades in its 230 year history. From the historic basketball courts (which local news teams love to visit!) to the brand new Simosa Field, Cheshire Academy is proud of the level of play we can offer with our athletic facilities.
Simosa Field & Track
Simosa Field is a state-of-the-art turf field accommodating football, boys and girls soccer, field hockey, boys and girls lacrosse, and track. The turf allows for lower maintenance costs, increased playability, fewer injuries, and saves water.
With the addition of lighting, the field now allows for night games, and an updated track has increased the number of lanes from six to eight total. Spectators can enjoy all of Cheshire Academy’s athletic events from the comfort of several bleachers positioned alongside the field and track.
Fitness Center
The New Fitness Center (approx. 1,600 sq. ft.) is made up of two individual rooms to meet the unique needs of the community. The first, a multi-purpose space for classes, such as yoga, fits 20 students comfortably. The space includes a cork floor, physioballs for core exercises, mats to stretch, and a wall mount for three TRX suspension trainers. The other part of the Fitness Center, dedicated to strength training equipment, includes more than 10 Cybex machines, ranging from treadmills and arch trainers to a rower and virtual-reality spin bikes. Many of the machines also include televisions with cable. In addition, a motion cage combines a trainer, rebounder, punching bag, and bench press in one machine. The Center was designed with large energy efficient windows as well as LED lighting.
Armando Simosa '08 Strength & Conditioning Center
The Simosa Center is a place for the Academy’s varsity student-athletes to work on strength and conditioning with their supervising coaches and the athletic training staff. Four custom power racks from Legend Fitness allow a number of groups to work simultaneously in the room, while a turf-covered area gives athletes room to warm-up, stretch, and conduct drills.
Dance Room
In a fully mirrored room complete with ballet bars, an experienced instructor will work with students on form, lines, and rhythm to create measured routines. This spacious area is a dedicated space for dancers to practice and perform their work in a collaborative setting.
Markin Tennis Courts
Cheshire Academy has two sets of full tennis courts, perfect for girls and boys varsity and JV teams to practice on. One set of courts is located across from the pond; the other is located by the Cross Country trail.
