New workshops, Zooms, and school resources give parents the tools they need and strengthen school-home connections
Cheshire Academy is excited to announce two new series of workshops on parenting
issues and financial literacy, providing parents and families with up-to-date information to
make smart, informed decisions for their students.
“A strong partnership between home and school is key to a great education,” said Head of School Tom Woelper. “These opportunities will answer questions families ask every day and help them make confident decisions for their students.”
The ISACS Parent Series: Timely Topics for Busy Families
Cheshire Academy has joined the ISACS Parent Series, a yearlong program of six evening conversations with some of the most respected voices in education, child development, and parenting. The program is available to every Cheshire family at no cost.
Each session is a one-hour webinar, held in the evening over Zoom: parents can join from home, from the road, or from anywhere in the world. Can’t make it? Every session is recorded to be watched when schedules permit.
The 2026-27 lineup includes six workshops, covering student organization and memory, the power of core beliefs on resilience, screen/life balance, AI issues, a science-based understanding of temperament, and a personal story of survival and gratitude.
The Academy will augment the series with Cheshire faculty-led, on-campus talks, building on themes from the Parent Series.

The Financial Literacy Series: Funding a College Education with Confidence
Cheshire Academy’s second new series offers guidance for an increasingly challenging part of the college process: creating a plan to fund college. In addition to cost, the financial aid landscape has changed, and colleges are reassessing how they provide assistance.
Paul Martin, founder of College Money Method, provides expert guidance for families, building an earlier understanding of how schools award assistance, making them better equipped to make wise decisions.
The series is built on six hour-long workshops, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A. This second component allows for parents to hear how other families are navigating the same challenges and provides expert guidance in real time.
The six workshops for 2026-27 cover:
- How colleges price education
- Factors that determine your need-based aid and merit scholarships
- Tools to calculate your expected costs
- Loans and lending options
- The financial aid application process
- Comparing aid offers and knowing how to appeal for more
The program also includes a School Resource Center of college funding and financial aid information with suggestions for diving in by grade. This dedicated hub was created specifically for Cheshire Academy families.
“We are excited to add this valuable resource to our College Counseling Program and look forward to giving families even more tools to navigate the college process with confidence,” said Madeleine Bergstrom P’29, Cheshire Academy’s dean of College Counseling, who will oversee the program on campus. “Our goal remains the same: to ensure that every student and family has the knowledge, support, and resources they need to make informed decisions and successfully plan for the future.”

The new series complements regular Parent Open Forum Zoom sessions with Head of School Tom Woelper P’26. They round out a robust selection of parent resources to help give families the tools they need to get the most of their student’s Cheshire Academy education.
