Star Senior Talked About College Prospects, Growing Up in a Football Family
Vince Reno ’27, the youngest of a family of football standouts, talked about his prospects for college play and what it’s like to be the son of former Yale University head coach Tony Reno and brother of Yale’s current quarterback, Dante, in an interview with WTNH News 8.
“I grew up with it,” Vince said. “As long as I can remember, it’s always football.”
The 6’2” linebacker is a savvy “all-around athlete” who has garnered interest from several top schools, according to the report.
“He leads in so many different way,” said Head Coach Bill Mella P’26. “He’s vocal sometimes, sometimes it’s just his hustle. It’s just the way he works. Sometimes that he’s calm in the middle of the chaos is the leadership quality that you’re looking for.”
Last summer, the New York Times interviewed Vince’s brother, Dante Reno ’24 about his decision to move from USC to play for his dad, who coached at Yale for 14 years. That announcement made sports news across the country, with stories about the novel father-son arrangement in the Times, Sports Illustrated, 247 Sports, and many other media outlets.
Vince has received offers from Lehigh, Brown, and Central Connecticut State universities, and Davidson College so far. More offers are expected.
