Girls’ Lacrosse scores first-ever WNEGL championship, while softball wins back-to-back titles, and three track athletes medal
Cheshire Academy athletes celebrated across the state last weekend as Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse clinched their first-ever WNEGL title, three track athletes won medals at the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Division II Championships, and Varsity Softball won its title for the second year in a row.
“We’re extremely proud of all our spring student athletes and coaches. It’s great to see their talent and commitment recognized with post-season accolades,” said Athletic Director James McCarthy.
The busy postseason weekend included:
- #1-seeded Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse clinching an 8-7 win over #4 Frederick Gunn School for the Academy’s first-ever Western New England Girls’ Lacrosse (WNEGL) title on Saturday
- Varsity Softball claiming the back-to-back WNEPSGSBA B Division championship with a 14-7 win vs. Millbrook School on Sunday
- Track & Field medaling in three categories at the NEPSAC DII Championships with Noah Frazier ’26 winning 1st place in discus (142.7 feet), Dominick White ’25 placing 4th in the 400m, and Chidera Ogbuagu ’28 taking 5th in the 300m hurdles
In addition, #1-seeded Varsity Baseball won its semi-final game, coming up short to Canterbury School in the championship game after a 15-2 season. Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse played Canterbury in the WNEBL Tournament and Varsity Girls’ Tennis participated in the New England Invitational at Suffield Academy.
