CA Alumnus Coby Tippett Joins New England Patriots Coaching Staff
Feb 28, 2024
Coby Tippett, a member of Cheshire Academy’s Class of 2017, recently achieved a new milestone in his career in athletics by being named special teams coaching assistant/quality control with the New England Patriots.
At Cheshire Academy, Tippett helped lead the varsity football team to an 8-2 record and the NEPSAC Wayne Sanborn Bowl title game. After CA, Tippett served as defensive back and punt receiver at Towson University and the University of Rhode Island. Professionally, Tippett worked with cornerbacks at Tufts University.
Tippett is no stranger to the Patriots, as he spent time as a coaching assistant during the Patriots’ 2023 training camp. Before that, he entered the NFL draft and had several workouts with various teams. His father, Andre Tippett, is a former linebacker and NFL Hall of Famer for the Patriots, and currently works as the team’s executive director of community affairs.
“Football is a huge passion of mine and is literally part of my DNA,” Tippett said. “As a very young boy, I used to walk into Gillette Stadium with my dad and dream of one day being a New England Patriot. Now it has become a reality. I hope to continue my journey and grow personally and professionally in the NFL. I have to thank CA for helping prepare me for life’s challenges and opportunities.”
