Town of Cheshire named one of the best places to live in the United States

September 24, 2020

The Town of Cheshire, Connecticut, is once again one of the best places to live in the United States, ranked by Money Magazineplacing 28th on the list. The recognition further reinforces the fact that Cheshire Academy is located in a unique, special town, a highly regarded and safe suburban community.

This year, Money Magazine ranked the top 50 towns and cities with populations of 25,000 residents or more. Cheshire is one of only two Connecticut towns on the list, which also includes South Windsor (No. 12). In 2013, Cheshire was ranked 39th by Money Magazine.

Categories from which the ranking data was derived included economy and income, cost of living, diversity, quality of schools, health and safety, entertainment amenities, and others. Money Magazine recognized not only strong communities despite a global pandemic, but towns and cities that show promise, stability, and growth in years to come.

In the publication’s writeup of Cheshire, an emphasis was placed on small-town charm, access to hiking trails, and many farms and orchards.

The writeup reads, in part, “If getting out in nature is your thing, this small Connecticut town, located halfway between New Haven and Hartford, has plenty to offer. Go camping at Sleeping Giant State Park, take in the sights at Roaring Brook Falls, or pick your own fruit at Drazen Orchards. You can even get up close and personal with mini-horses and pygmy goats at Cheshire Hollow Farms.

Cheshire Academy is proud to be a central part of the Town of Cheshire for more than 225 years.
