Tarik Black ’17 signs with the Colts

Congratulations to Tarik Black ’17, who has earned his chance of playing in the NFL after signing with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent.

A wide receiver, Black transferred to the University of Texas after receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. While playing for one season for the Longhorns, Black caught 10 passes for 240 yards, and scored a touchdown in six games. At Michigan, career highlights include appearing in 20 games with nine starts as a receiver, and being a three-time letter winner (2017-18-19).

Black has stood out as an athlete since his time at Cheshire Academy. Some accomplishments include being an All-America and all-state honoree, playing in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, being ranked No. 81 nationally and No. 31 receiver by ESPN.com, recording 40 receptions for 703 yards and 11 touchdowns while rushing for 150 yards as a senior, registering 30 catches for 610 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior, and helping the Cats to an 8-2 overall record and victory in the Wayne Sanborn Bowl in 2016.
