Sofia Della Porta ’25 is making a name for herself in the music industry as a singer and songwriter, with a planned release of her first single, “Do or Die,” on Sept. 17.

“Do or Die” is a steel-guitar infused country-pop ballad. In the press release announcing her single, Della Porta said, “When I wrote ‘Do or Die,’ it was 2020 and everything had just shut down. The song is about adapting to your situation and finding ways to get through it.”

Della Porta first performed “Do or Die” at a virtual open mic hosted by the Berklee College of Music. She felt that the song resonated with her peers, who were battling social isolation and fear due to the pandemic. She chose to release her single at the start of the academic year as a way to offer encouragement.

Della Porta, recipient of the Town Scholarship, began her first semester at Cheshire Academy this semester. Her mother, Gina Della Porta ’97, was also a Town Scholar.
